When I first jumped in the on line scene back in 2005 I did what most mommies did who are striving to work form home, I joined message boards/forums in order to network and promote my business and ministry, and to be completely honest I was a bit disappointed in the results I received from promoting and even networking on line at the forums. I just felt like it was SO much work and resulted in very little to no results.
I really feel that a lot of us underestimate the power of blog networking. I really feel that I have received better results in networking through blogs than I have while networking on forums. I feel that networking through blogs gives you more of an opportunity to create friendships and powerful business connections. Commenting on blogs has truly been the best form of networking for my business.
So what do you think: Are blogs better for networking than forums? Do you think the end of forums could be near with the rise of blog networking?

I prefer blogs…but alas, my forums remain up…LOL!
Becki, you know I love your forums! I think finding the right forum and sticking with it is what really pays off networking wise, but I am also all for forums just for chit chat too, as I am with blogs. :)
I too prefer blogs, but I do feel there is always a time and place for forums too! :)
I too underestimated the power of blogging. Now, I absolutely love it. However, I still have a few good forums that I participate in. I do like the way you can post and add your signature.
I think one of the things that make blogging so powerful is the rss feature that allows your updated news to be broadcasted almost immediately over the internet. (That is if you take time to submit your rss feed url to many directories.)
Overall, the think blogging has become so popular even for those who are not interested in generating revenue.
I LOVE the idea of forums, but I think they have a tendency to lose focus real quick, which can be frustrating to stick with. However, I have found some of my best blogging buds (“Bluds”) through forums.
I do love blogging around, but since there are SO many of them, it takes a fun carnival or such to network efficiently (for me).
